Frequently Asked Questions

  • We know trying new things can be daunting, we’ve been there - and we believe you’re about to embark on an amazing journey!

For complete beginners, we recommend attending our Aerial Fundamentals / Pole Fundamentals classes. These classes are designed to teach you all the basics in a safe, calm environment with other people getting started.

After you’ve attended a few Fundamentals classes, you can go to our Pole Beginners or Pole All Levels classes - or attend any Aerial Beginner or All Level classes. If you’re unsure if you’re ready for this step, chat to your instructor. They’ll be happy to help.

  • For pole, we recommend wearing leggings and a comfortable sports top for the warm-up. Please bring shorts for when you start climbing, as leggings are slippery on the pole.

For aerial, we recommend wearing leggings and a comfortable sports top. Please avoid any leggings or sports tops with zippers as they can get damage our equipment. For trapeze, you can bring also thick winter socks to protect your ankles. Aerial silks is generally done barefoot, but if you’d like to keep your socks on, please bring socks with anti-slip soles.

An important note on jewellery and piercings: We ask you to please remove all jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets) and piercings, as they can damage our aerial silks and aerial hammocks. If you can’t remove your piercings, no worries: please cover them up with a plaster, or ask us for one.

  • Our cancellation policy is in place to protect our instructors. They plan classes, schedule travel to/from the studio, organise childcare, etc.

If you realise you can no longer attend a class, please open your GoTeamUp account and cancel your spot 24 hours before the class is due to start in order to get a full refund. Cancelling your spot also gives anyone on the waiting list a chance to join the class.

Our classes must reach a minimum of 3 students in order to go ahead. If we don’t reach the minimum 24 hours before the class is due to start, we will cancel the class and give everyone signed up a full refund. To avoid disappointment, please keep an eye on your email (including your spam) for any cancellation email.

We unfortunately can’t issue refunds for late cancellations due to sickness, but we genuinely thank you for staying home and keeping our instructors and fellow students safe.

In cases of adverse snow, we will always advocate that you stay safe and avoid icy roads. If you can’t make a class because of adverse weather and missed the 24-hour cancellation window, email us. We offer refunds on a case-by-case basis.

  • Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds on memberships. In cases of chronic / long-term or sudden illness, we can freeze your membership. This means your membership won’t expire and is waiting for you to come back.

If the above applies to you, email us. We’ll find a solution together.

  • We always want to hear your thoughts on how to improve and make Inverted the strongest, safest, and most inclusive it can be.

For any feedback, questions, or issues you may be having, email us anytime.

Alternatively, you can speak to an instructor of your choice and they will pass your message on anonymously.

  • You can use the code STUDENTLIFE for booking into classes and buying memberships.

We work on an honesty system, and trust that only students are using the code. Please understand we may sometimes ask to see your student ID card, but we also want to live in a world where we can trust each other.

  • We’re always excited to see your progress and if you tag us on Instagram (@invertedaberdeen), we’ll be thrilled to repost your videos in our stories.

Please make sure no one is in the background of your videos/photos. If someone steps into your video/photo, let them know and get their consent before publishing it.

For the discretion of everyone in class, please put music over your video, or turn your sound off.

  • To ensure absolute safety for our students and instructors, the front door has a door code.

When you register for class, you’ll receive an automated email confirming your registration. This email has the door code. Sometimes the email goes into your spam. Look out for it!

You can message us on Instagram or email us for the door code, but we might not always reply on time - so your best bet is to check your spam!

  • We’re always excited to expand our network and meet fellow instructors.

We’re currently expanding our Kids’ Instructor team. If you have experience teaching kids a physical activity (circus, pole, dance, parkour, flexibility, other sport) and are eligible for PVG, we’d love to hear from you.

Our Adult Instructor team is currently full and we are not accepting applications.

We’re always eager to host professional workshops and learn from our (inter)national colleagues. If you’d like to give a workshop at Inverted, please email us with your workshop menu. Please include your availability for 6 months in advance, the minimum of attendees for your workshops, and your workshop cancellation policy.

Our Studio Policy

We are proud to be a circus/pole home for people of all cultural heritages. We welcome all genders and do not tolerate any form of bullying or exclusionary behaviour towards our instructors or our students.

We work continuously to educate ourselves on neurodivergence, inclusivity, and how to be a safe space for every body.

We are always learning and we welcome all feedback that is aimed towards making Inverted a more inclusive, safe space for all. If you experience any worrying behaviour, we want to know about. You can tell an instructor: they’ll pass it on anonymously to our directors. Or you can email us.
